Taking work off and escaping the office for the outdoors.  Anyone else fishing? I am torn between going for lower river fish since they are reopening it or going for Drano.  Never fished Drano, but how is the quality of fish up there this time of year typically? are they still bright or starting to turn?

Caught my first few drano fish last year on September 26th, they had definitely started to turn. Caught a jack that cut decent but the hen I kept was turned into crab bait, gave my buddy the eggs. You’ll need to do some sorting for sure.

Edit: added a photo, the hens didn’t start that dark, they looked ok when we bonked them but turned dark quickly. Lesson learned I guess.

I am fishing somewhere tomorrow. Buddy is hitting mount of the Lewis this afternoon so waiting on that report. Fish counts over Bonneville have dropped a good amount in the last week. Was at Drano Saturday went 0 for 3. Most of the fish I saw caught were in very good shape. Wind made it pretty unpleasant, and I only had rain pants. Definitely bring full rain gear if it is windy. Most of the guides were hover fishing and doing extremely well. I did for a bit and had 2 good bites. Had to bail at 10a for some home commitments so not a full day. Wind forecasts are mixed and don't look horrible.

Yeah fish counts have dropped but ifish-ers are still catching in the lower river it seems.  Tides look very soft and time well for incoming/morning bite.  I've never fished Drano and have been curious about it.  Wind forecast looks a bit gusty in the afternoon, but morning not too bad.  Going to be cold though to start.  Were you on the lake or out in the main river?  I am not set up for hover fishing...rigs or bait wise so probably a trolling game for me.

Totally agree on the attractive tides and I love dropping the boat directly into the river. Bit more work at Drano. Leaning toward Austin Point around 6a. Not a huge iFish user. Where do you go for Columbia reports?

Yeah the austin point launch sure is nice. free and close! Drano i understood theres a point up the access road that is good? but wasnt totally sure.

I have mostly just gotten columbia reports off of iFish.  Nothing there on drano, but two large threads for below bonn.  Seems like people are still catching around the deadline this week.
