(Removed previously canceled date)
6:30 am launch with an 11:30 ish low tide must check fish (or be in line by 3:30 pm , should give you guys time to fish around.
Simple rules, check in when launching, you can launch from either side of the marina but you must check in at the tent first!
Once your off the water you must also check out at the tent and get fish or photos measured so we can get your points in order, AOTY scoring if you intend on C&R I’ll give you a marker that must be in your AOTY rules photo. With Dungeness crab getting 1 point per inch at the legal measurement spit.
All required CG gear must be on board, must follow all ODFW rules, PFD’s MUST be worn, stay in the bay, have fun. I’ll be set up around 0630 in the ports big white tent behind the fish cleaning station.
Potluck will commence around 4:00pm(ish) with awards and prizes starting around 5:00pm(ish) buuuuuut don’t hold me to the potluck times it will be hectic.
Edit: Cabizon is out of season and will not count.

Did anyone fish 6/22/2015? If so, how was it?
It was awesome the bite was really on....and now it’s fixed ;)
-
I vote 6/1 or 6/15.
-
My vote is 6-1
-
That 4ft tide swing on the 15th looks good but the 06:30 low tide don't sound to good. :o
-
Edit 6-15 is a negative tide
-
This year's tournament was a lot of fun, but was also a workout. Just a suggestion. With the massive swing in tides this year's tournament, and with the tide ripping out of the bay, a constant struggle to stay in the bay, losing two crab traps getting sucked out with the tide, and guys dragging their kayaks in the mud, can we look at a day without such a huge swing? Perhaps a date without a minus tide?
If not, I would suggest we all land in the harbor, and shuttle the boats on trailers back to the camp.
-
6/1 and 6/22 look doable. I like the later start on 6/22... ;D

Gotta launch bye the tides here, landing at the ports side at the fish cleaning station if needed is perfectly fine with me.

What about backing this up into May dates? Better tides?

Less Springers

Well now I want to change my vote ;)

Bump... looking like 6/22/2019 is in the lead post up your votes as in locking the date in this week.
-
Saturday June 22nd 2019 will be the TBKD 5 mark your calendar, put in the time off requests, and start planning your strategy!
-
Looks like the TBKD will be canceled due to a lack of venue.
We have had nothing but problems since the new management took over. We got an eviction notice and we’re told we needed to clean up our site (a few of you have been here a know that’s bs) and we were told we had to get rid of our “storage truck” my one ton dually we use to pull our trailer. So we moved the truck out and made sure everything was in order outside. My wife asked for something in writing today and was told we were in compliance but the eviction stands we have had too many complaints for fighting ...... WTF?!?!? So I’ll be moving soon and needing to get a good lawyer if anyone knows one, we have evidence and everything is in righting or recorded.
-
Dude! Totally messed up! Im really sorry that you are going through that. It does sound like discrimination and totally illegal!
-
Not getting into the details on here but we are moving (you want details pm me) and I still haven’t secured another venue, I’m working on it.
-
Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope everything eventually gets settled in your favor.
Tagging on the off chance I have the time to make the tournament.

Such a PIA to go through all that! Need moving crew help (maybe with some fishin' thrown in)? It's a haul to get there from here but if there's another campground nearby and I'm not flying somewhere I'm game.
-
Sorry to hear that Shannon. Guess you can reckon what campground we'll NEVER be staying in again. :angry2:
-
We’re all settled in in Tillamook, I’ll try to see about throwing together a little something this year maybe a salmon event.
-
:headbang:
-
Stay tuned sports fans.... this may be a better late then never!
-
We too have a mystery sheik that is wanting to get this tournament on TBA on that note, I got a ton of shit to do as we’re consolidating my storage unit, my father in law’s storage unit and my sons storage unit to a 4 bay farm shop that we are renting two of the bays at. As well as get with the Port of Garibaldi about requirements for launching at the docks or cleaning station as well as using there big tent for the after math..... I’ll need a lot more help with this one guys so if I could get some volunteers to handle a few different specifics like potluck, and logistical stuff, we got 5 months to pull this off so we will see
Biggest question is who’s interested in us continuing with this event?
Post up and I’ll start a poll!
-
Rather unlikely I'll make it to this one. Even if a business trip doesn't mess up going to ORC it's sketchy if I'd make that. One of these days I won't be spending all my money on the kids and can afford some more fishing trips.
-
Count me in!
-
It is happening thanks to American Kayak Supply, we will be using the event tent at the Port of Garibaldi ( right next to where we launch).
I’m working on securing camping discounts near by but will NOT recommend or ask the old mill. There is a walk in tent camping place at Idaville Rd that is already inexpensive and may give us a discount for tents only no trailers hook up or not.
Since this was a last minute go we got a lot of “sorry we have already met our donation limits”
More to come.
-
Glad to see it is a GO. Looking forward to it!
-
Should have some details after the holiday weekend, keep it on your calendar and if all else fails “Fish-N-Chill” with a belt buckle to the first place winner.
-
Ok kids here’s the update:
Seth has moved from American Kayak Supply to Next Adventure as the paddle sport manager (Congratulations Seth!). This event is happening! AKS & NA will be co-sponsoring the event with NA handling the registration and entry fees , Seth will get that posted up as soon as he gets it all put together.
Let’s make this an awesome event!
Can I get a volunteer to start and track the potluck thread?
-
Posted up the basics on post #1 so go back to the top :icon_thumleft:

Is there going to be captains meeting Friday or just show up Sat.? Also if you are measuring the photos, is there a copy place in town I can get them blown up?

No captain meeting but I’ll be in the tent if anyone gots any question in the am.
As for blowing up your AOTY style photos..........
That would be great then I can see YOUR hog trough numbers better in the photo >:D
-
Anyone going to be comping through Seaside during normal business hours Wednesday - Friday? Trophies will be ready at The Trophy Case in Gearheart if I can get someone to grab them.
-
I'm not going to be able to make it but I hope everyone has a great, safe, time!
Mojo, Cabezon don't count, right? AOTY rules = must be in season. Or are you accepting C&R entries for out of season fish? Just curious, thought others might be as well.

I’m going with AOTY rules so out of season is not counted, thanks for bringing that up, under size fish won’t count either. And yes we are allowing C&R for those that don’t want the fish, I have a marker for that.

Ashley and I just registered. Is everyone wearing drysuits? Are they required? We've never fished Tillamook.

Not required and it’s a matter of personal comfort, this time of year I wear dry fit.
-
So we changed the format to AOTY style and our very own .......
Nobaddays took first place (AGAIN!) with 589 points landing the only salmon keeper (1 of 2 he got to keep by the way) that was an impressive football looking 32 inches and rounding it out with a greenling, a rock fish, and a perch.
Second place went to Merz with 462 points with a greenling, a rockfish, and a perch ( had nobaddays not got a salmon or he would have got a decent one he would have had first) nice work Evan
Third of place went to Ashly close behind at 414 points same species and those plaques can proudly be displayed next to each other on the wall ( put hers an inch higher then yours ;) )
I’ll get the other places up shortly as well as our total for HOW NOC.
-
great job all!
-
chunky monkey of a nook! Excellent catching to all.
-
Way to go everyone.
James continues his unbeaten streak. **bowing to the master**
-
Thanks for making it happen this year Shannon. I like having it in the fall and the new format. Also, if you could repeat the weather and tide timing next year that would be great. Couldn’t have asked for better weather/ conditions.
-
I second everything that Nobaddays said. A BIG THANK YOU SHANNON for organizing this great event again!
I also like the new format...having to chase multiple species and that it is organized in a time of year that there is actually salmon in the bay (although it still takes a skilled person to catch one :))
Congrats to the winners!
-
Rounding off the rest that placed starting out at 4th
Ben Smith 249
Kyle Zemke 136
Keith Conaway 132
Corey Weinheimer 104
Wesley Weinheimer 96
Eric Timmermans 88
“And now you know the rest of the story”
We had 13 registered competitors with 11 fishing
After registration fees we made $480.00 on registration
And $155.00 for a total of $635.
Not bad for a last minute thrown together tournament. Next year we will be having it during the fall salmon run so plan accordingly. Thanks to those that showed up on short notice to help out HOW.
-
Thanks again for a great day on the water! First tourney, first time on Tillamook Bay, first rockfish from a kayak!
Now to the kitchen to take care of the catch and to make a wonderful dinner!
-
Thanks for putting it all together Shannon. We had a great time and hope to make it an annual event.
