I'll be going to Alaska for the first time ever this may. Sadly, most of that time I'll be on a cruise ship. I will have the weekend of the 25th+26th to try and take a guided trip.

I assume halibut are year round, and that's probably what I'd most like to catch. Especially from kayak! Doing so out of a kayak would be killer! Of course salmon/steelhead/rainbows are always fun, but not sure if the timing is quite right.
Catching a big pike would also be great.

Thanks in advance!

Can anyone recommend a good guide in or near Anchorage?

Thanks in advance!

A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

Anchorage area wouldn't be the best bet for Halibut.  I think the Clam Gulch, Ninilchik, Anchor Point zone of the Kenai Peninsula is the closest to Anchorage.

I don't know if it's the same on the KP, but for the area of AK I'm familiar with, Halibut fishing in the Kayak zone was way better in August than May.

Thanks for the info!
Unfortunately, I don't have much wiggle room in our itinerary.

I've been wondering where Rudy might be whether or not we need something from him.

I see Rudy post on Facebook once in a while. Usually not fishing related.

Rudy's videos and posts were most of my inspiration for this land locked kayaker to gear up for saltwater and the pacific northwest.
