After checking the weather, I decided I would try Seward by the Fourth of July Creek area since Anchor Point seemed too marginal weather wise.  Get to Seward and the weather there was not so hot either  Tried it for a couple of hours.  Had three solid hits but all three time I came back up with no bait or just the head.  I have no idea what it was. It felt fairly heavy but not overly active all three times.

About 2pm I check the weather and make a call to the tractor launch in Anchor Point.  One footers?  What?  They were calling for 3 and 4 footers.  Darn weather forecasters.  So I high tail to Anchor Point area and I am in the water fishing by 6pm for a 7:30pm high tide.  Rigged a whole herring to roll.   Drifting the bottom, then paddle against the wind to reposition and drift again,

2 cods and 3 Irish Lords in the first 30 minutes. Well at least the fish are active.

About the the 4th time I repositioned in about 35 feet of water, I get hit and the line starts peeling.  I just stare at my rod for a few seconds in disbelief and it is definitely not the bottom.  Wow!

That's the third king in three trips for my kayak group,  It's the second one for me in three trips from a kayak and the time I didn't get one, I got a 14 pound halibut.  Amazing.  Who would have thought it was possible.  I grew up in Kenai and I still can't believe it.  I get the feeling my power boats are not going to get used tis year.

The king was definitely a feeder.  Absolutely no roe or milt.  It was STUFFED with 6 hooligans and several sand lances.

Not huge but 34 inches.  Probably a touch over 20 pounds given the length and girth.

The final odd thing was as I was loading the kayak up, the  "Time Bandit" from the "Deadliest Catch" shows up, drops a skiff, picks some folks up and then they take off again.  I wonder what they were doing in Cook Inlet? 30 minutes earlier, I was battling my king in the exact same spot.

Nice job catching the King and the video. Wish I was up there for King fishing. And yes, I have had a party charter years ago move in on a baitball in N. Calif after I landed a King mooching. But this 50' boat headed directly for me  and looked like he was going to ram me. At the last second, He turns sharply to port and puts a big wave broadside against my Sea Ox 21' Walk-around and almost knocks his paying customers off their feet. Needless to say I'm ticked and call him on the VHF and say "!@#$%" and he says I'm in his spot.
The whole frickin' ocean, 2 boats and it's "his spot". I reported him to the Coast Guard and he shortly moved to a new port.

Great video.  I love the comment about scales everywhere.  I wish I could have that problem. ;D

I'm curious as to what kind of software you used.  Also, were you using two HD GoPros?  I'm thinking of picking up another and getting the 3D housing.  It might make for interesting surf launch and landing footage.  :o  I would have loved to have had the footage I shot on Wednesday for work on 3D.

I use Powerdirector 9.0.  I have an olympus stylus tough 8010 that I put in the rod holder and then I wear a gopro (the cheaper version).

Someone needs to come up with a waterproof remote operated camera.  The biggest pain is turning on and setting up all the cameras while your fish is on.  I can't believe I haven't lost one yet while I have been playing around with the camera setup.

There are those that feel since they were there last week, this week, it's "their" spot too this week!  lol. I have no idea what a crabber would be doing in Cook Inlet?

They do work as tenders for other fisheries at times.

The Time Bandit's home port is Homer. They act as a tender for most of the year, mostly herring and salmon.

Holy Cow Kardinal!

I'm so glad you joined NWKA!  You've been having an amazing run of fish this year.  I loved the multi-angle fish porn!  BTW: Hit free spool next time you get one in the net.   I was cringing waiting for your rod to snap.    :o

Well none of it would have happened safely without this board. So while I may be one person, this board has already helped many others. Great stuff all around.

Watching the video, I thought the same thing about my rod. It's contrary to what my vids might show but I am terrible at multi tasking. I got the fish in the net and now my focus is 100% on the fish till something enters crisis mode and I notice it...like my rod creaking or bending awkwardly.

Am working on getting one of the cameras underwater but so far fish fever has prevented that much thought while the fish is on. Maybe practice with more minor species like cohos and rockfish.

The next new thing is the night fishing. Scheduling that for first half of June. I honestly think it's going to produce some surprisingly interesting results though not sure yet what that is. Lol.

Oops class back in session!
