I fished PC today and there was no sign of the shark.  Of course I didn't read about it until I was already home.

Fishing was good.  I caught a limit of rockfish on my fly pole and also got a couple keeper lings on my jig rod.  Back to shore by 9:30am.

Anybody else having trouble believing this story?  That surfboard looks like it was dropped against the edge of a rock, not stuck in the jaws of a shark.  If the shark bit the board as he says, where are the teeth marks?  I could be wrong, but this one doesn't smell right to me.

Maybe the shark was old and gummed it to death :toothy11:, but was thinking the same thing?

LOL. After seeing photos of whales in PC and hearing my stories, my wife also got a Hobie a few weeks ago. Her goal is to make it out on the salt water later this year, after practicing on lakes and rivers. Now she saw on the news that there is more than only whales and rockfish in the ocean:-)

That's what I thought also. It looks like a dent in the board from the angle on the picture. The video gave a couple different angles which give a better view of the slice through the fiberglass on the rail & a couple other punctures that could be from teeth. I was expecting to see a row of jaw shaped tooth marks.

Even if it was a test bite I would have expected to see a lot more damage to the board.  He also said the shark drug the board under water and he had to swim back up to the surface.  That should have been a bigger, deeper bite than what he showed on the board.

I also don't remember him saying what kind of shark it was.  Maybe we are all just assuming a White but maybe it was a different smaller species.  ???

There’s really no reason to doubt this guy’s account.  Sounds like there might have been some other surfers around him too.  I launched about a half hour before this happened, and was surfing on Sunday and Monday and didn’t see any fins.

The last time someone got munched in PC was also the last day my wife surfed with me there in 2002.  Also, what appeared to be a smaller shark, but with better aim.
