Title: Kayak Fishing talk at REI Anchorage
Post by: armyjim on April 16, 2009, 01:41:32 PM: Just a heads up, in case anybody's interested. REI in Anchorage is going to be doing an intro to Kayak Fishing presentation April 22 at 6 pm. I'm going to be out of town for it, but I wanted to make sure other people had a chance to go if they're interested.

Maybe in the Lower 48... But in Alaska, they would go out of business in a minute if they held to such standards! 8)

Post by: yessnoo on April 28, 2009, 06:49:50 PM: Well they don't sell any fishing gear anymore and when I asked one of the guys there (this is obviously an unofficial answer) he said he likes to think of rei as a store that doesn't sell any supplies to sports that kill....thats when i lost alot of respect for the place lol....on the other hand he knew alot about kayaking and i am glad he helped me pick out my pfd cause i was about to buy the wrong thing.

Don't let the hippies get you down - come to Alaska; fishing's practically a religion up here!
Besides - if they don't sell supplies to sports that kill, what's with all the bug spray for the campers? And how about the water purification? Shouldn't we just give those Giardias a big hug instead? >:D
