Thanks, we are going to go and see how it turns out! Small weather advisory for certain areas. We plan on just staying in the cove anyways. We will let you guys know.

Good luck with the fishing you guys! Now I'm feeling a bit more bummed that we canceled our trip for weather! Have fun and be safe.

I made it down there late last night. No where to camp unless you pay millers 26 bucks. Then no where to park my kayak trailer at Lowell point during the day.

Couple that with sideways rain and the folks at millers saying they haven't seen any silvers close in yet, I turned around.

Well played kenai peninsula for having zero places for free camping. Bull crap.

The campground at Miller's is like something out of Grapes of Wrath -- I won't stay there in season, find it grim. Sorry to learn you had a bad experience finding a campsite.  They monitor that parking at Lowell Point pretty carefully, and I suspect they're all over trailers. Didn't think to warn you about that; I've noticed the sign many times.  I guess that makes the Fourth of July launch more appealing for the Addy that you've got on the trailer.

Did you check Primrose for camp spots? The other idea I had was the $10 hostel near Trail River -- that might be worth checking out.

Yeah I stopped at primrose. 14 bucks. I always thought it was free. The summit lake campground was 18. Anyway I didn't plan on paying for a camp spot And all I had was a 50 dollar bill. Neither camp manager had change.

Yeah...that side of the peninsula likes to take advantage of all the suckers from ANC and outside.  That's what makes WG & DC so appealing for fishing.  That being said, Any and all free spots look like hobo Jim and his whole family showed up after Memorial Day.

Labor Day is soon, and all the yahoos will be gone
No matter how many times the PB's tell me I'm nuts....I still smile every time I out fish them

Well, Louis was spot on, and on time. He did great. The weather was what it was forecasted, windy and raining. Being in the cove it was no waves but windy! It was fun but not fun if you wanted to fish on the points of the cove oh well, wife caught one quill back rockfish and I caught a cod. Was a good experience and will definitely head back out that way. 79 bucks round trip not bad at all.

Glad to hear you too got good service from Louis. I think it's a good value and he's been very reliable. Next time though I hope Sunny Cove lives up to its name for you two.

On Louis--I appreciated his comment when i cancelled our trip out. We weren't committed (in terms of a charge of any sort), but he still seemed honest, saying that he thought it was probably a good idea, given the weather and our plan to be in Bulldog Cove. I haven't had any bad experiences with water taxis here, but having dealt with guys in DC, WV, NC, and Florida, I know the potential exists for them to push a bit on the weather, trying to get people to stick with their plans regardless of the weather.
