Anybody have any intel on bottom fishing in Port Orford? I almost went diving there years ago but my buddy lost some gear on the way in so we botched the dive. I'm not sure what the name of the spot is called but we were going to head out pretty much right by where all the  commercial boats are parked. It always looked real fishy to me but I have no experience down there. I was there a few weeks ago with Mutoman but I didn't see anywhere to launch other than from the surf near that large rock. (again not sure of the name) Help please! I would love to tag along with anyone willing to show me how to fish that spot, granted anyone knows how to fish it :P

Never fished it mice elf but.....if you travel a bit south of port Orford (1/2 mile or so), you will find a wide pullout and trail leading down the "cliff". Mostly locals know of it, and it is used a lot. From the beach there, it is a very short distance out to a close in reef, lots of kelp surrounding it. I too would like to get me arse up there and try it as it looks very fishy to me.

I used to live down there and fish there all the time off the rocks. You should put in right next to the dock, it's very protected. There is a webcam of the area for the Castaway Motel in Port Orford that show the spot.  http://www.castawaybythesea.com/webcam.html  There also is fishing in the cove around the jetty with kelp beds. Eventually I will have my kayak at our place at Bandon and will be looking for someone to go with at Port Orford from time to time if you want to get in contact. I hope by this summer.

What boxofrain is describing is .7 miles from the spot by the dock if you are not into surf launching.
