BPS seems to be touting them pretty highly in their newest catalog. They claim they only need a scope of 1.5-2 and have a very low snag rate. Googling comments on other fora has yielded mixed reports with some people raving about them and others just "meh." My quick perusal didn't turn up any kayak-specific reviews though. Anyone tried them?

Just did some background on it. Seems Cabelas has stopped carrying it due to poor reviews and performance.

Using google, i looked at cabelas, thehulltruth, amazon, and crappie.com search results.

Either this thing takes a whole lot of patience to set, or as reported by many of the posters, it's a huge POS that you cant ever set correctly and you shouldn't waste your money.

Bear on mind, on amazon, cabelas, and crappie, the exact same reviews are shown  promoting it but they are out weighed by actual former users who absolutely detest it.

Isn't it just a fancy Danforth?  They are great in the sand and soft mud but suck for anything that resembles a rock bottom.  They need force (current or motor)  to be correctly set.

Its similar to the anchor I have on my PB.. Like Pelagic said, its great for sand and mud but struggles with a rock bottom.  When you do get it set in a rocky area its a pain in the ass to get it up..
