I am glad to say that  I was present when Craig caught his first spring salmon.  It may have been small but it was fin clipped.   :)

First, I would like to thank Spot, Jammer, Pelagic, Ndogg and anyone else who has attempted to impart some of their Springer wisdom on to me which made this momentous occasion possible.  To Noah I would like to say, IN YOUR FACE! Ha! I caught a Springer before you! ;) ;D

Now before we get all "rulesy" and such, I do know that it was swimming the wrong way and that it "technically" could not be kept because it self- identified as a smolt when we asked it.  But, genetically, it was a Spring Chinook and a hatchery one at that.

Its a good thing I had to beach and take a leak or that poor little guy would have been on there all night.  Oh, and for those of you wanting to catch one yourself: gold spinner blade, red beads, half a prawn on the rear hook, and a Shock Top Belgian White.   The other half got ripped off when I snagged, but I had to pee to bad to re-rig.  Oh, and they definitely weren't biting while drinking Dos Equis.

Congrats man!  Way to get after it!

I would much rather be up a creek without a paddle than down one.

Did you have to use the net? LOL

Congrats Craig! That's one more Chinook than most of us have caught this year.
My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

It reminds me of my only 2012 salmon, a coho mini jack.

Will catching of spring salmon swimming the wrong way be covered in next week's clinic?  Or is that a 200 level subject?   :)

Yes it will!  It'll be covered during the part of the seminar where I talk about bait....   :banjo:
