And the beat goes on ... no fish once again.  I can't remember ever having this bad of a streak.  I'm looking forward for when it flips and I go on a roll!!!   ???  Anyone know any "good luck" rituals I can try?    ;)

I launched from Seward Park this morning.  Got there at 5:30 and started to unpack even though it is marked it doesn't open until 6.  There were some police patrolling around, but they didn't see me or they didn't care.  There were other people in the park already, mostly joggers and bicyclist.  As you enter the park I went to the right (south) as I wanted to fish from Seward to the SW part of Mercer Island.  There is a sign as you enter about no boat launching, but there are 2 parking areas, one to the right and one to the left.  The one to the right has a beach and is again posted no boat launching.  The one to the left has a 2 foot ledge to the water.  I drove to the end of that parking lot and launched over the ledge.  Anyone know for sure whether that's ok.  I didn't see anyone I could ask.

Anyway ... I marked more and bigger schools in this area than I did yesterday off 520, again at 60-70 feet,  but there was a lot less action.  I didn't see very many nets waving.  It seemed to be picking up a bit when I left around 9 though.  THe wind was from the north today and was gentle breezes.

So ... shall I try again tomorrow?  If I do, it will be back to Madison/520 as I need to be off the water earlier again tomorrow.

I fished the Juanita bay, Waverley beach circuit for a little over an hour this evening.  One good hit but it didn't stick.  That was the extent of fish activity.  I was lucky enough to be real close to a female bald eagle soaring low around the bay (awesome sight).
The wind kicked up from the West at about 7:30 and there were 1ft swells.

No fish for me either.  I think we'll need to start a therapy group if this keeps up.

Well, I didn't get out this morning as I just couldn't get up early for the 3rd day in a row.  But ... I'm planning on launching from Madison Park a little after 6 tonight if anyone is up for some last minute fishing plans.

I'm trying to dig up  my lucky hat right now!!!  ;D

I hope you ran over that skunk, finally!

Recently read in Fishing and Hunting News, about how the Canadians are starting to figure out how to target sockeye in the salt, out in the Straits. They're heading out to 50+ fathoms (3 miles, or so) and trolling dodger/flashers w/ mini hootchies. I'd guess some small shrimp flies, or bare colored hooks, would work, too.

The skunk still live ... unfortunately.

Yeah, I heard about those 15 MILLION sockeyes bound for the Fraser.  You know, ever since I was a kid people have been trying to figure out how to catch those sockeyes in the straights.  There even sed to be a decent commercial troll fishery for them.  They'd use, yep, dodgers and hootchies.  Actually they would use sparse red hootchies, sometimes just 2-3 legs left.

What about catching those sockeye in the Fraser itself?  On KFS, Dracb was talking about areas to fish the Fraser for sturgeon, kings, and chum.  I'm going to ask him about the sockeye.

I read that there is a charter outfit out of the N. fork of the Fraser, that targets the reds. WA anglers fish for sockeye on the Skagit, though I don't know much about it besides that it's at the moputh of the Baker R.

There is a run of Sockeye that head to the Baker.  It's about 15K this year and has been as low as 99 in 1985, but was 20K+ in 2003.  There is a great page on WA sockeye at the DFW site ... http://wdfw.wa.gov/fish/sockeye/index.htm.  All the WA runs are listed and discussed.
