My family and I just moved to Oly from Colorado.  I have always had an interest in yak fishing since I saw folks doing it in HI.  I picked up a ocean kayak prowler 13 and have it pretty well geared up.  I have been successful with flounder, ling and rockfish so far, but I am looking forward to the salmon run this year and would love to give Halibut a try.  I am always looking for somebody to go fishing with and I am willing to do the driving.

Welcome to the forum. I hope to get up to the sound this year as well and I'd really like to try for halibut.

Welcome! I am up in Tacoma near Pt. Defiance. When the fish are in let's hit up the claybanks at Pt. Defiance or over at Quartermaster Harbor for some salmon. You picked a hell of a year to move here - the pink salmon run this year and they are a lot of fun to catch at Browns Point or at the mouth of the Puyallup river. 6 million fish are supposed to return this year. Not as good eating as king or coho but fun to catch and they smoke well. Hopefully we get some fish showing up because right now it slow...For salmon at least. Feel free to write me and we'll go.

Thanks for all the invites! I will definately be taking you up on them.  I went to the mouth of the Nisqually today.  The tide was just starting to come in.  On my way out, I saw a ton of flounder and sole.  Some were very good size (close to 20 inches).  They were very boat shy.  I only managed to boat one fish using a slide sinker, jig head and 3" white-pearl gulp.  I have had a lot of luck with that rig in the past but today was very slow.  It was still a good day on the water.
