I recently moved up to the Dash Point area from Oregon. It's a change, that's for sure. Unfortunately, the fishing is a huge change as well. What are some good things to fish for in Area 11?

I would really like to learn more about the area, and get to know some more of you locals!    : :banjo:

I would suggest Dash Point as well for pink salmon, but not the pier. When the pink salmon are in it is a mad house. I typically launch from Dash Point State Park. Only need to paddle to 5-10 feet depth of water. Should start seeing pinks by the first week in Aug. Also I suggest using a pink maribo steelhead jig with a trout rod with 6 lbs test. It's a blast

I am right across the bay from you in north Tacoma. Like the other dude said, the pinks are good - they are in this year - off of Browns Point but that is not until August. You could launch down at Marine View drive and then paddle over to the mouth of the Puyallup when the fish are in. The best place to go is probably Pt. Defiance right off the claybanks or Quartermaster Harbor right across from you between Maury and Vashon Islands. When the fish are in the claybanks can be hot. Easy to access, great parking, and relatively secure when it comes to your car. The current can be a real bitch there but there is a lot of bait and the fish will pile up there. Right outside of Gig Harbor is good too. You have to drive a while for a couple of those and take a ferry for another - or paddle your ass off through the shipping lane - not very safe. I would buy a crabpot for this summer as the crabbing is very good in the area. I was sick of Dungeness by the end of the summer and I thought that would be impossible. Also invest in a good map and study it. There are a lot of cool little places on the water within 1 hour or less. There is also Chambers Bay for flounder south of Tacoma. Great salmon fishing there too. Some big ass fish get caught down there.

Anyway, there is a little info. Hit me up whenever.
