What do you think of the MC Cast Control on your SX ??
I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

At first I was hesitant to spend the extra $40 to buy a model with the MC feature because I wasn't sure how well it would work.
It works very well. I'm traveling on business right now so I can't post a video, but if you free spool the reel and set the MC to 4 or 5, you can grab the loose end of your line and give it a nice hard tug. The spool spins in free spool like crazy, but the magnets apply just the right amount of pressure to the spool to eventually slow it down without a birds nest. You can cast a lead with it and let it hit the water without thumbing it. No problem.
Granted, it's a feature I will rarely use (except when sturgeon fishing) since the SX is my bottom fishing real, but very neat nonetheless.

Thanks.
I had seen Avets promotional videos where they almost promoted their cast control as revolutionary.  Was wondering if it seemed to work better than  other magnetic, Centrifugal.... brake systems out there.

Thumbs up on the color choice

After deciding on the reel model, I looked at all the color options before buying from any one place. It's not often you get color choice with a reel, so I took my time and did my research.
Charkbait.com was an Avet distributor when they first started off so Avet let them pick a color that only they could sell. Charkbait picked the candy apple red. So if you ever see a red Avet, it could only have originated from Charkbait.
They gave me a solid deal too. $199 for the reel, free shipping, free reel cover, and 300 yards of 40lb free braid.

Yeah, I can't wait to give these a run.  They were sent to me for review purposes.   ;D  After getting Lasik, and being about to head down to Panama, these will come in handy.  I'm going to put these glasses to a good test.

I've been a long time user of Kaenons.  And while I love those, how do you compete with an all glass construction from Costa, with a mirror embedded in the glass (so scratches are less evident).

BTW, if you ever want to try Kaenon (or other higher end sunglasses), troll theclymb.com on a regular basis, they come up for sale (50% range) often enough.  Although they just had a run on Kaenon Klay's and are all out.

I went on line and checked them out. Nice product. I will check out the other site. Seems I could purchase a lot of cheaper ones and not worry about losing a pair. I do u understand the eye sensitivity some of us have to deal with.

If you don't consider red anodized billet aluminum bling then I'm not sure what bling is .....
The nice thing about most of the high end reels is that they preform amazingly!

....also I'm glad the industry doesn't need to make all their high end reels gold. Though the white handle on the new trinis are a little over the top.

I've had an Abu Garcia reel for over 25 years and it's never failed.  It's been gone through at Ollie Damon's twice, but is still my favorite reel.  Fresh and salt water, and am looking forward to another season with it this year.  Been considering a new RVO TORO NaCl60 to replace the latest saltwater casualty, a Cabela's saltstriker (which lasted one season).  Time will tell...

What happened with the Saltstriker? I was thinking of picking one up this week while they are on sale. Seems like they have good reviews. Is this the one you had?

http://www.cabelas.com/product/Bargain-Cave/Fishing/Reels%7C/pc/105591780/c/105740280/sc/105742980/Cabelas-Salt-Strikerreg-Spinning-Reels/728574.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fbargain-cave-fishing-reels%2F_%2FN-1102770%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_105742980%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253Bcat105591780%253Bcat105740280&WTz_l=SBC%3Bcat105591780%3Bcat105740280%3Bcat105742980

Sorry it took so long to answer... The Saltstriker that got ruined was a low profile baitcaster.  One year of regular saltwater did it in.  It was a nice reel while it worked, but it suffered from too much corrosion due to saltwater exposure.  Sometimes I think we saltwater kayak anglers should be the proving ground for what fishing gear can really take.
