How about setting up the search function so that you don't need to return to the Home screen before performing a 2nd search?

I know right.  The SMF search function sucks.  It tries to be too smart, and just ends up being dumb.  There are other options ...

More details.

There is now a drop down box that gives you options depending on where you are.

1) Entire Forum - uses the SMF search function to search the entire site.
2) This Board - searches only within the board you are currently in.  If you are not in a board, this option doesn't appear.
3) This Topic - searches within the topic you are currently in .  If you are not in a topic, this option doesn't appear.
4) Members - searches the members directory.
5) Google Search - redirects to Google and displays what Google would return if doing a search on this site.

Also the search display is updated for all the non-Google searches.  The posts x/y field is clickable and returns all the posts within that topic that have a positive search result.

Let me know what you think.

Allen there is now an error when trying to search using Tapatalk that wasn't there before the new changes to search. I keep getting a "server error".
Is this something you know how to fix?
Thank you
Paul

Have I mentioned that I don't like tapatalk?

I'll look into it.

Google searches the site better than the built in engine.  I can type in something I KNOW is here, but if I don't get it spelled/spaced/capitalized exactly how it's written here, it doesn't show up.  I haven't tried since you made changes though.

P.S.  Tapatalk rules.

I disabled the "smart" search function because it wasn't smart.  It was dumb.  Anyways, this should fix tapatalk search too, which has been broken since I did this update to begin with.

Just confirming that tapatalk search is now working again.  Let me know if you tapatalk users experience any problems with it.  Thanks.
