hello fellow kayak fisherman and woman.  My name is Eric and am currently living in HI, however I will  be moving up to washington state approximately 1 September.  The kayak fishing here has been spectacular, but my job takes me elsewhere.  I grew up fishing the cold water fisheries on the east coast (NH), been fishing all over the south, florida coast, texas coast and lakes, and now I am eager to learn how to catch salmon. I hope to meet some of you on the waters and wish everyone best of luck when they go out and to be safe.

Cool! I think you will like WA. Where in the state will you be living?

Rory,  I will be living in the Lacey area.  The fish you guys have been catching up there are nice size and good quality fish, ya, I am looking forward to it.  Just need to upgrade the fishing apparel, I have been in warm climates for 20 years and I know shorts and an t-shirt just won't cut it up there ::)

Aloha Eric,  plenty of people in the south sound area to hook up with.  There will still be some good salmon fishing in September, but you will need to trade the board shorts for a drysuit.  See you soon.

Lacey's a good place to be. Good access to south sound and also the coast and the columbia. There are also a good number of kayak fishers in that area.

I think you'll like Lacey. I recently moved here myself from AK.
Although I've been waiting years for an assignment to Hawaii. . .
I have about 20 board shorts that I haven't been able to wear in years.
Partly due to living in colder climates, and partly due to packing on some weight.  :-[
Hit me up when you get in.

Hey Eric, welcome. I live in Lacey and work on McChord field, sounds like that is where you're heading. Couple of us on this board work in the AMXS. Let us know when you're in town!

awesome, sounds good fellas and thank you. Yes I will be at JBLM, so I have plenty of time to read all of the Washington posts and learn the rigs you guys are using. Tight lines!
