Bear Attack Kasilof Beach

FYI, especially given how much time spent on beaches.

Very odd behavior and a little sad. Pics are from local friend of a friend.

Birder jams the spotting scope in the grizzly's mouth? Some stones on that Dad. Wow.

Looks small so I guess the guy who was attacked lucked out on that regard. An adult might have made a meal out of him instead of a bruiser session.

Not a great end to the story, at least for the bear - old female bear, approx. 20 yrs old, bad teeth, blind in one eye from a previous injury and glaucoma-like symptoms in the other - she likely "attacked" the telephone pole after running into it. So long story short, she was starving. Really surprised she made it through the winter. If any upside, at least her behavior was not caused by rabies or some other disease. Those birders are very lucky! RIP you old griz...
