I've seen this written a few times and heard someone use the term at Drano. It seems to refer to earning the good favor of a significant other. What does it stand for?

Mmmm, I think you're thinking of WAF, which is Wife Approval Factor. The idea is that we married guys earn and spend WAF based on our actions. If I remember correctly, bsteves came up with the term several years ago, on the NCKA site

It's WAF Jay. It means Wife Approval Factor for most..Work Approval Factor for the unencumbered..

Yep, my fishing trips seem to live and die by the WAF.  My wife loves salmon so right now I'm pretty much in a WAF surplus for salmon fishing trips, but if I don't start producing that may dry up quickly.
