So I'm debating on whether I should get the Lowrance scupper tranducer or the traditional install kit using marine goop??

In my previous kayak, I used epoxy to permanently mount the transducer (my mistake).....and I am not sure on how reliable this method is.

How do people feel about using marine goop? How well does it mark fish and structure?

How do people feel about the scupper transducer? I'm drawn to this due to the capability of getting water temps?

Johnny I have mine inside the hull. I gooped the puck the transducer sits in, and then I just pour a bit of water in the puck before I head out.
You can goop the puck down for a more permanent fix, it works well.
Did you find a kayak?

I went and checked out the Revo and compared it to the OK ultra 4.3...man they are nice! It's was hard to decide but I'm going with the Revo. Just because of the mirage system.  I'll pick one up soon.

Which FF do you have? I'm thinking to get the Elite 4/gps.

That's the one I'm using. The Elite 4 GPS model. I love it.

The Revo is a great choice. I think it will be my next boat. If I can get Brit to let me sell her Tarpon 120 I'd be out looking for a Revo.

I tried that scupper mount kit. I did not like it. I had it one there one trip and removed it. The thing is though I can't recall what sucked about it. Been so long and was so short lived I forgot!

Look up that duct seal well method.

I have the lowrance elite 4. I really like it

I've used the marine goop for 8+ years now, and kind of wonder why the wheel keeps getting re-invented.   ::)  No issues marking fish and structure at all.  The only time there are issues is 1) if you installed it with too many bubbles, or 2) it gets old (you do need to reset it every couple of year or every year if you want to be proactive).

And it does read water temps for the most part.  On the ocean, it's not problem.  On a hot day on a lake, it may read a few degrees higher.

I didn't have very good luck on my first two attempts at mounting my Lowrance Elite-4 x-ducer inside the hull of my Hobie Outback. I used the Lowrance scupper mount kit and mounted it through one of the seat scuppers that were usually plugged anyways...It tucks up nicely between the countours of the Hull and is not exposed at all allowing beach landings without risking any contact with the x-ducer. I'm very happy with this setup and feel I get a much better signal return and much more reliable temps. I can send you pics if you want or post them if there's interest...I had to make a couple very minor modifications to the mount.

On my OK Trident, I also have the ducer in the scupper which is designed to accept it...I have a mumminbird on that boat becuase they make a ducer that s made to mount there...you just need to call Huminbird Customer service and they'll swap your ducer for one that's designed for a scupper and installs in seconds.

I didn't know this about water temps. My old hummingbird didn't have this option so I never was able to test this out.

Yea a pic would be great. I wondered if the ducer would be protected. Too bad that all hobies are not ready to go like the PA's.

I have a Humming bird 365i and I love it , GPS and fish finder, I have it mounted in the hull with the "In-Hull" kayak mounting kit from Humminbird and I have had no problems, it is out of the way and the battery is tucked up on the shelf nice and secure. The water temp does read a few degrees higher being in the hull, but its not a big deal once you realize that.
