I'm not sure anyone will be willing to give up their secret ling holes in a public forum. This is information better communicated in person with oaths of silence and threats of violence.

I usually rig the grub tail opposite from hook as I've had the tail snag on the hook point. Also, I tend to use white glow grubs and if nothing it hitting big white, then I go dark with the biggest root beer/motor oil/black scampies I can find. 

You can also use a small halibut spreader bar for halibut. Put the cannonball on a leader half the strength as your bait and longer by about 12".
