Hello all! I'm about to take the dive into a PA 12, and I live by the water in Ballard (North Beach). I will likely use the boat ramp to launch at Golden Gardens. I have many questions, and have joined this site in hopes of finding some answers before I buy.  (not expecting answers in the Introduce yourself forum, just background on why I'm here)  I moved here from Atlanta where I only did lake fishing for the last 25 years, so the Sound is a new adventure for me.

1. If I fish between Golden Gardens and Carkeek (at up the coastline) what can I expect to catch, if anything! :)
2. How safe is kayak fishing along the coast? The waves seems completely manageable most days.

Anyway, glad to see so many enthusiasts out here! On the lakes in GA, there weren't many of us to compete with the 30k and up bass boats.

Your in the neighborhood. I live about 2 miles south of you, and BallardBrad lives about 3 miles southwest of you. Brad just sold one PA14 and bought another one about 3 hours later, he has a couple.

To answer your question, yes, north of GG is a great place for salmon, esp. Coho. You can also scratch up some bottom fish (sand dabs mostly) in that area. Some of the better spots in Shilshole bay are out toward West Point, bait seems to hang around in the eddies of West Point a bit more than north of GG. But all of it is good on any given day. In a month or so we'll be out there almost daily. It's great fun.

Awesome! After I pick up the yak we should hook up for a trip sometime. I'm looking at hobiecatsnorthwest.com (Lake Union) to purchase the yak and Outdoor Emporium for rod/reel (any recommendations on these for the Sound?).

Are you using the Lowrance DSI out in the sound on the PA? Wondering how well that works, as I was thinking of getting the 5 DSI to help find bait fish.

Thanks for the reply!

Pauly
