The Oregon Coalition for Educating Anglers. (OCEAN)

Is offering Shelton fish descenders to ocean fisherman. Visit their Website at www.oceaned.org to request a free descender.

Even though we will be fishing shallow, 0 to 70 feet, at ORC it still is a good idea to return the small ones to depth.

Perhaps I'll send them an email and see if they can provide one for each of the captains bags.

According to Wobbler, they have not, however they did provide laminated Fish ID cards and Stickers.

Ocean is donating fish ID cards and stickers. The demand for their descenders is in high demand after their segment on Outdoor GPS. They did say that they will get them into the mail as soon as possible.

I will try and see what the error message is.

This is a great invention. I am afraid, though, that it is more a social engineering problem than a mechanical engineering problem... No charter boat I've ever been out on has any respect for the fish (a huge reason I quit patronizing them, btw) or trying to release something the right way. Stand around sometime in PC and listen to the dory fishermen talk. I'm sure there are good decent dory fishermen out there, I just haven't met any - all of the ones I've listened to or been around have about as much respect for fish and the fishery as they do for their empty Coors Light cans.

But anyhow, with all of these types of things I always go back to this: I can try to do my part, and I do, but isn't the sportfishing impact like 1% or less compared to the commercial fleets, even for rockfish? I'm pretty sure BillyBob out there catching fish for market so he can feed his family isn't going to take the time to lower down a fish correctly.

One more thought: As a light-tackle advocate I'll just point out that this is just one more reason to fish shallow.

Anyway very cool gadget. I hope people use it.

Weird...My personal experience has been nothing but positive with the dory men I have encountered.  But, with every group, you're bound to have a few outside the norm.

+1. All the ones I've talked to have been great.

The order page is up and running.

Maybe I have been lucky. The Charters and Dory fishers (I know, Dory men! I just couldn't stop myself) that I have encountered have been very respectful of their fisheries.
