camping san juans??

where do I need to go with my kayak to get into some bottomfish there? got any ideal camping spot/campground info?   will be tenting it. am thinking late august early September......any tips on anything?

There's a great camping/kayak launch on the northwest side of San Juan island, but the name escapes me. I launched there back in may and caught a ton of greenling in the kelp beds south of there, but all the lings we caught were pretty short... Beautiful place though!

It's San Juan county campground. If you pay a couple extra bucks you can camp right on the water and pull your boat right up to camp. It's a beautiful campground. I however did not have much luck when I was there. There is some good structure a couple of miles south of there too.

The only bottomfish you can keep that time of year is greenling, Cabezon, and flounder. Have you looked at Sucia?  It's a really nice area.

All the paddle-in kayak campsites in the San Juans are listed. There's also a Fishing Hot Spot Map for the San Juans, it will show all the reefs and good bottom fishing spots, buy those at Cabelas or OE.
