I get my daughter every other weekend so I couldn't hit the salt.. But Lake Washington has a nice population of fish so I decided to throw some Chuck Booker inline spinners that I recently picked up from ole Chuck in New York.

I made an 11 Am launch from O'Denny Park and hit docks going south. Right at the point there was one dock that dog legged. I had to go out of my way to cast beside it. Sure enough... this 4lb bass smacked the lure. It sure put up a nice fight too. Bass, it's what's for dinner.  :banjo:

In August I get those things in less than 10 feet of water on spinners. A few weeks back I also pulled out this thing in less than 3 feet of water (memory is a little faded but it could have been even shallower). Same side of the lake

Nice! The bass bite is going nuts in Lake WA right now, they know they only have a few weeks of warm water left for feeding up. There's at least a few of us going out tomorrow on the north end.

Good luck. I fish the north end a lot and that second one is still there. Good luck. I'm with my kid tomorrow but Monday I think I am going to get out somewhere (Lake WA or in the salt water).

I've had a good few weeks with small mouth on both Lake Washington and Lake Union.  Fish are sitting in about 20 feet of water just outside the weedline.  Landed 8 smallmouth and one largemouth yesterday.  Diving shad raps, Brad's wiggle warts with lead core to get it down towards the bottom works best.  Tight lines.

Cool to see even smallies like the brad's cut plug.  Was that the standard size or the mini?

Pigs! Sick pics, gents. Inspired to toss inline spinners in the waning summer days. Thanks for the stoke...

^ I gotta agree, I've been woefully absent on my home water (Willamette) so far this summer as I obsess over getting out on the salt. Maybe I should head out and get some smallmouth to the boat.

Thanks for lighting the fire!

Well partly because of this thread, with the help of my wife we got the whole family down on the water last night. I'd been grumpy but my mood immediately improved as I paddled away from shore - funny how that works, isn't it?

Salmon smolts were popcorning off the surface everywhere out there in the backwaters; it was so thick it was surreal at times. While the kids paddled around exploring, my wife and I decided we should compete in a friendly fishing tourney. Well, I'm sure you know how these things go...

She out-fished me 3 to 1 (about 80 minutes of actual fishing time). It wasn't the fastest action I've ever seen but it wasn't bad, and the quality of fish was decent to great. We each had several hookups we couldn't get to the boat, in addition to our "official" tourney entries.

The details: Fishing in 4-12 feet of water mostly, bouncing and dragging 3 and 4 inch grubs mid-to-low in the water column on 1/8oz jigs, using light tackle (6lb line, trout rods).

But the winning fish of the night (pictured) was caught a little differently: this fella was harassing smolts on the surface, she saw it, sight-casted just past it, one count, two count, reel, BAM! FISH ON!  :banjo:
