I was out north of Meadow Pt also on Tuesday afternoon.  Boated 2 pinks lost at least 4.  They were jumping everywhere and the bite was on even during the strongest ebb.  They were in water from along the shore to water 500+ feet deep.  Basically, they were everywhere.

Had one pack come right at the yak jumping one after the other so I flipped my buzzbomb 30 feet off the boat right in front of them.  They followed it up to the boat.  I was jigging it up and down about 3 feet under water and watching them whack at it with closed mouths for a few seconds until they swam under the boat and took off.

Hoping to get out Friday (8am-3pm) for the flood tide (9am-3pm).

Not sure why I lost the 4.  Hooks were sharp as I dress them after each fish. Using straight shank 1/0.  Perhaps the bomb works its way up the line then drops down and knocks the hook loose. Might pin the bomb to the line next time with a tiny split shot. Or, super-glue a pink mini-bead.

It is thick out there no doubt about that, the best in years. It seems smaller presentations work best, at least for me lately. I like an small wobble spoon with a bit of pink yarn on it, but lots are being caught on a pink fly or small hootchie too. For some reason they seem to follow larger spoons and might peck at it but don't bite on it as much as the smaller stuff.

Sounds like your in the right place at the right time. Consider taking along a 1/4 oz pink steelhead jig. Has worked great for me so far this year. I feel it's something about how the jig stays in the target area longer.

I know everyone uses them, and if you need distance from the beach, buzzbombs are great.

But if I know there are fish in front of me, it's about the last lure I want. I'd take any wobbling spoon over them (krocs, little cleos, rvrfshrs in pink), as well as jigs or spinners with a hootchie.

Ok first off, sorry about posting questions about WA specifics in the general forum, I'm new to this game. I hooked two beautiful Kings last weekend, and I'm going out this Saturday (Aug. 31) on Meadow Point (would love some company if anyone is heading out) to try to land some pinks. Thanks all for the great advice on lures. I need to see what is legal to keep and what is not, as I think the Chinook are now off limits. Hope to see some other Yaks out there Saturday!

This year looks to be a monster year for pinks. Commercial guys are making 50k single sets and everyone is getting pretty plugged. There are loads of fish at the salmon banks and Everett bay.

I will go for pinks this Saturday (08/31) and Sunday. Not sure where to go, to Mukilteo (and also drop crab pots) or Golden Gardens.

I was out there at GG for 3 hours this afternoon without a bite. Fish checker said they had one pink counted all day. It's very odd, but it seems the rain killed the bite. I might try Muk this weekend.

Driving over the West Seattle bridge I could see several fish jumping and tons of ripples from fish stacked up in the east water way.
