Need some angler advice on silvers--

I am going out tuesday and wed again but have never actually fished for silvers or kings - I live in lakewood but don't mind travelling, I would appreciate some helpful tips such as what to use for bait, i have heard alot about cut plug herring? I also have a few spin n glows but am uncertain, If you know any good area's in the sound to troll around for about 5 to 6 hours with a chance to get one i would appreciate it!! The only place i have fished so far is near brown point lighthouse for pinks and i have had really good success thus far, really wanting to gear my sites more towards the big ones before the season ends to fill it, Thanks again!
