So I got a VHF radio and wasn't sure what channels to use.

Most people use 69 (to include the PB's). If out with a group and we want some privacy, 82 is typically desolate.

16. I think you're required to scan 16 at all times.

So I got a VHF radio and wasn't sure what channels to use.
I scan 9/16/71. Recreational radio traffic is on 71 (fishing reports, "that's why it's called fishing" wisdom, etc).
