I'm sooo excited to have discovered kayak fishing this year.  My teenage boys are also tickled pink about the kayaks.  I'm still in preschool - getting the feel for how to exploit the kayak in small lakes - fishing the shorelines for whatever will hit.  Most LMBs, and tons of them.  I'm always happier catching 10 smaller fish in 1hour, than 1 large fish in 10 hours.

I've been hitting up my local lakes, attacking the shorelines with artificial lures and the LMBs just keep hitting hard.  So fun!!!

I've been using my boys 10ft OldTown Vapor.  What a great starter kayak.  Wonderful.  Stable.  Small...I can throw it into the back of my SUV and be off...sooo nice.

I'm a simpleton.  No fancy this.  No fancy that.  My favorite is a 5'6" Ugly stick rated at 6-15lb test.  It is the best general purpose pole I own.  We don't need to stinkin 7,8,9ft poles in my world.  Yeah, I understand the benefits, but a shorter pole is easier to handle in my narrowly scoped view of the world.

Long live the kayak!!!

I believe you are describing the "kiss principle" and that ain't bad!

Like most of us, as time goes on, you just might change your mind as "the fever grabs hold of your sole"..... ;)

Only thing that grabs my sole is a big pile of dog turds. Luckily I sold my soul long ago. Happy now Demonic?

BTW-Welcome to the madness dea!

... Happy now Demonic? ...

Dea, welcome to the site.  Where are you located?

The road to hell is paved with bad spelling and poor grammar.

And, I'd be happier if you gave me my 'k'!

I'm not a stickler for good English.  As long as I understand your point, I'm good.

I live in the Everett WA area.  I've taken my yak to; Panther, Storm, Lost ( Devils ), Margaret, Crescent, Kachess, Tarboo, and Pass, Echo, Wagner.

I have had success at all of these lakes to some degree except Pass lake which is a fly fishing only lake and went to cruise around with my teenage boys.  I am not a fly fishermen, but rather I throw spinners, hard baits of various types, and everyonce in a while will throw a bobber/jig/fake worm.

welcome, dea!  The extra good news is...it's just as fun even after you've been doing it a while.  You're in a good place.  I think everett is one of the best places in WA for kayak fishing.  lakes, rivers, salt...it has it all right there!
