Anybody looking for a place to fish now, or for maybe 3 weeks, I would suggest the Siuslaw. From the jaws inland to Kiernan. Lots of nickel bright Chinook, the river is full of Coho. Bite is on. 1 strike, 1 lost next to yak, and 2 boated between 0830 and 1130 today, at Cushman. I will be there all week of this beautiful weather.  Slap Steel............
And, no, I did not change my seat..........

Thanks for the info. I would like to get some chromers for the freezer. I caught 5 today and they were all pre-smoked.

Lot of nice fish still in the Coos and Coquille rivers also. Roy caught a chrome bright Coho in the Coos river today, too bad it was only about 15 inches long... :P

Coquille is getting good for Coho too and it has some big ones...

we ran into bosun52 today just as he was bleeding out his second king for the second day and exchanged usernames, kayak info, and such... with family here most of Sept/Oct,  I have been mostly running our PB and getting them into fish, 13 kings and 5 coho adults in the boat since Labor Day.

Nothing hitting today for my Bro-in-law and I and almost time to call it a day, bosun52 pedaled back by on his way to the marina and shared that he was running his herring right on the bottom with no flasher.  so we pulled off our flashers and added weight and got even more focused on staying right on the bottom...15 min later I am hooked up with this 40" chrome buck...not from my kayak but my largest king to date and I especially wanted to thank bosun52 for "chatting" with us.. ;D

Awesome fish guys! I might be inclined to come down there and shoot for my first yak salmon!! Any hints on places the launch? Might come down next week.

Going to give it a whack tomorrow. Will be hitting just below Tiernan and Bernhardt Cr slough. Hope to be on the water by 8. Wish me luck! Hopefully everyone else will be in Portland hooking Dinos and I might have a chance without bringing a baseball bat! ::)

planning to take my kayak out Tuesday from Florence Marina about 1pm to catch the last couple hours of incoming tide to troll past the 29 marker and get to the RR bridge just before high slack.   we had been slaying them all around that 29 marker but need fresh fish coming in to keep that action going, weather has been so nice, the fishing might be better up out of Tiernan...roger

How was the fishing guys? Is it still going strong or has it died off?

I met Roger and fished with him on the Siuslaw yesterday -- great fun to meet up, Thanks Roger!
Fished from 1245p until 430p from Port of Siuslaw Marina upriver -- nada.   The weather stayed foggy and moist overcast all day with low wind.  Saw a few powerboats catching, but maybe 4 fish for 40 boats.  Must keep trying!!

It died off. There were lots of boats on Saturday but never saw any landed. Everyone I talked to was reporting "slow" conditions. My assumption and conclusion was the good run last weeks were due to the heavy rain/fresh water that caused the run, but as you know we haven't had any rain lately since then. My suggestion is to watch the rain forecast and time a trip accordingly.

it was great fishing with Barb and it was nice to not have many boats out but I marked less fish in the water than since back in August, I think with the water cooler now (54F), the fish are moving upstream quickly upstream (would you hang out with all those seals/sea lions around?)...so nothing good going on in the tidewater until more fish move in...heard plenty of good bobber and egg fishing going on upstream now...

I am going to kayak fish Siltcoos and recon Tahk on Thursday and then crab the Slaw on Friday down near the ocean from the PB and scan around to see if I can spot any big fish moving in or being caught down there...cheers, roger

I spent Thursday on Tahk and Silt.

there were a few fish jumping up Mallard arm at Tahk, mostly small but the larger ones I saw were dark and the 3 other boats up there and myself had no luck hooking anything in the 2.5hours I was there.

Siltcoos was worse, nothing going on near the outlet and along the shore just south of there (where we usually slay them this time of year), my recon down the outlet river only confirmed it is not moving, no water being let out the dam.

I think we need some rain to really heat up our coho lakes...cheers, roger
