Kayak fisherman dies from shark in Maui

Sad news as I'm hearing it daily here in Oahu. It's the 13th state wide this year and 8 of the 13 have been on Maui. 4 in 5 weeks.

Thanks for posting updates, PAL.  This is truly a sad day for the community.  My thoughts and condolences go out to the friends and family of Mr. Briney.

I hadn't put it together until I got a call from a CBS affiliate in Hawaii that he was from the gorge area. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

 

Please let us know if you hear more about Patrick's fishing history. A fellow angler should be remembered for more than his untimely end. I'll do my best to offer a platform if his friends care to share their remembrances.

Very sad. At least he was out there doing what he loved.

He was also a private pilot and a certified Airframe & Powerplant mechanic.  Windsurfer, snowboarder, hunter, fisherman. Retired from Boeing and moved to Stevenson to play in the Gorge. Sounds like a great guy.

I think it is important to remember him for more than the way he died, particularly in our community. I hope I have the chance to do better by him.
