;D I've found a new religion...  Two weekends on the water and I am hooked on yakfish'in!  I can't even explain it, but sitting in my Livingston or 11' inflatable dinghy just won't cut it anymore.  I have only been out on Lake Sammamish and Beaver Lake(King Co.) but I'm loving it.  Getting skunked is even more enjoyable than a so-so day in my other craft.  I'm not quite ready for open water yet (lacking the right gear/tackle) but with any manner of luck I'll be out there next year.

Had I not found this website I would have been lost.  I've rigged the basics thus far- FF, forward rodholder, and a basic milk crate setup.   Hopefully I'll remember to bring the darn camera this weekend and I'll snap off some pics for y'all.

Why do we keep calling this "The madness"?  It's starting to drive me crazy. Is it becuase that's what Joel "Mooch" of NCKA calls it.  Can't we have our own catch phrase.  I see nothing "mad" about kayak fishing. With gas running $4/gal, the health benefits of kayaking and a multitude of other reasons I believe kayak fishing is superior, it seems like we should be welcoming people to the "saneness".

Anyway, glad to see another convert.

as an alternative, may i offer " welcome back to fishing as it should be"? ( yeh i'm guilty of the "madness " quote too, blindly following without questioning it when i joined)

Thanks for the words my friends...

"Madness" may be the right term for some of you after seeing some of the pictures of PolePole going after salmon sharks  >:D

I like to think of it as "the cure."  Nothing makes my weeklong disease go into remission like a day on the water.

Yarj.,

Welcome aboard, so to speak.  That's really cool that you were able to use this site for gathering info.  Now you need to take it to the next level and use this site to get together with some fellow enthusiasts.  Beleive me when I tell you that if you see any trip posted in this forum, it's open to anybody that wants to show up.  If it wasn't, they'd probably P.M. each other.  So far, my experience on ALL of these trips has been "the more, the merrier".  A few of the people that you'll meet on here are technically professional kayak anglers (if you can believe that) and a couple are professional fishing guides, but I promise you that they're just regular anglers (not all of them are guys, a few gals too) just like you and me.

So be sure to follow one of these threads (literally) and tag along some time.  Or you could call on a trip yourself.  As I see it, that's the biggest value to be had out of this entire website.  Hope to see you on the water soon.

Fishin-T

Thanks Fishin-T!  I keep checking to see if any outings will work for me.  I'd love to give some of the open water outings a shot, but I don't have the right gear just yet.  I am pretty much setup for bass & other warmwater species (I'm originally from much further South and to the East.)

Right now I'm 'yaking/fishing on a shoestring budget, so I am sticking pretty close to home and with the gear I've got w/in reason.  I'd be interested in hooking up with anyone willing to head out on Lk Washington.  I ride/drive over it everyday, but I don't have the slightest idea where to start or go... I normally fish alone so this would be a nice change for me (not to mention the wife would stress a little less.)

I'm on the water at least one day every weekend...  I looking forward to hooking up with any of y'all soon.
