Elite-5 protection help needed

Anyone with a Lowrance Elite-5 DSI FF that can give tips for keeping the salt water from destroying it? 

I take mine through the surf stashed in a dry bag. After getting back, I simply spray it down with fresh water, very lightly.

I don't have a Elite-5, but some general care tips for sonar units are:

-Baby it.  For many people, their sonar is the most expensive thing mounted to their kayak so it should be treated that way.
-Make sure the pins at electrical connection points are always coated with some kind of dielectric grease.
-Rinse after any encounters with salt water.
-As langston mentioned, stow your head unit during surf launches/landings.
-Store the head unit inside you house, not in the garage.  Electronics, especially those with LCD displays, don't like freezing temperatures.
-If it isn't too late(30 days after purchase), consider getting a Squaretrade warranty on it that covers accidents and water damage. I have cashed in several Squaretrade warrantys on various electronic items and I am always impressed how easy and satisfying Squaretrade is to work with.  I bought a 3-year warranty that includes accidents on my new sonar; it is nice to have the peace of mind.

TY.  good info there.  actually ended up getting this one because my elite 4 fryed on me, used the protection plan from West Marine and upgraded to the 5 since they were out of the 4's.  all said and done the swap cost me 15 bucks, and got a new plan on the new FF.

I know on the elite 4 it had a rubber gasket on the bottom that had to be secured tight and greased to keep water out.  it doesn't look like the 5 has the same type of problem...but wanted to check to be sure.

On my Elite 4s I just silicone RTV'd the SD card ports closed and packed the terminal plugs with dielectric grease...Huli-proof, although I normally carry the head unit in a large Ziploc bag during surf launch/land.
