For 10 years of service at my company they gave me some money to spend on a vacation this year so my wife and I may head up to Sequim for a little vacation over X-mas break.  We found a rental that is pretty sweet and has everything she wants (hot tub and fire place) but my biggest concern is fishing.  I know there is some good steelhead fishing to the west but are there any rivers/bays/lakes closer that will have good fishing in the end of December?

Any other vacation recommendations are also welcome.

So I will be in Sequim for a little R&R next week and am torn on what to bring.  Right now I am planning on bringing steelhead gear and fishing from the bank, but I could easily be swayed to bring either an inflatable kayak  to drift a few of the rivers or my Hobie to try for blackmouths.    Is it worth bringing a boat?
Also, I will have to spend at least a bit of time with my wife so any recommendations on non fishing activities would also be great.

I don't know much about fishing round there but you might see if you can hire a guide. Sol duc might be a good option.

Also, the blackmouth creel reports for pt angeles (ediz hook) are off the...hook. Again I don't have any more specific intel but I sure do want some!

Thanks for the info.  I am going to be stuck on the bank for the week, but I may try to find a guide for 1 day.
