So I am thinking of hitting the salt this weekend. Surf looks like it might be a bit rough but I think we can get out.   :spittake:

I'm sure you'd be fine in the Outback! I'd be down to go but I think I work that day...

I'm going to have to make sure to check out the camera when it starts to pick up out there. I've seen a forecast top 20 foot breakers out there, but over thirty... That is nuts.

Swells around 30+ ft. come around once or twice, maybe three times a winter.  It's a really cool time to head out to the coast and watch the angry ocean.  Cheap hotel rates this time of year too.

Went to Sunset Beach today to practice my distance casting and possibly help some surf perch who want a pierced lip.  It was not bad until the wind kicked up, of course I thought it would blow through (which it did once I was almost back home) so I stuck it out.  When I finally left there was a two foot tall band of scouring sand that was flowing horizontal.  I had enough sand stuck to me that if I was a dog with an itchy butt I could have started to sand one of my floors.  All in all still a great day

SEAS around 25+ ft. come around several times every year.  25+ foot, West SWELLS @ 16+sec are special.  If you can find a room on the rocks at Depoe Bay you'll get to feel as well as see and hear the power of the ocean.

That's a really good point.  I didn't notice the period.  It would be pretty cool to check this event out.

Friday the 17th looks good as long as you are off the water by 3 pm.  ;D   Although, Ihop could make some good time sailing his Tandem Island with those 50 mph wind gusts. http://magicseaweed.com/Cape-Kiwanda-Surf-Report/560/

I'm supposed to fly in to PDX sat.  Could be a bumpy landing :(.

I really wish I could get out there to see it.  Sounds awesome.
I would much rather be up a creek without a paddle than down one.

Looks like the swell will back off and hit north. southern Oregon will more than likely get the back side of it Sunday. Yeah! Get off work tomorrow morning and Sunday and ride some waves.
