More of a non-report but I was able to get out on the Siletz last week before all of the snow.  Drifted the town drift from about 8am until 3pm.  Super low and clear conditions.  Tried eggs, bobber and jig and backtrolling plugs.  Talked to a few boats who had zero success.  I was able get this little fella to hit a plug.

Good job. I still haven't tried to steelhead fish from a kayak. It's my favorite river to bank fish. My best days have been way up the gorge later on in the season.

Glad you caught one.  I haven't had a chance to fish for a month so I'm really enjoying any posted fish reports..  Good looking little guy.  Spots look like a cutt.

I've never been to the "town run" before but my friend who fishes from a driftboat suggested that as a place that was doable for a kayak. Are there any rapids, rocks, or other obstacles in that stretch?

That section is very easy in a boat or kayak.  There are only a couple small rapids.  There is one at the end of the drift that you need to pay attention to and keep to inside.  But super mellow drift and the best part is you end up a couple blocks from the put in.  So, no shuttle needed.

Also, use the paddle for most of the drift and the mirage for running back up to the top of drifts.  After the last rapid there is a long stretch of "frog water" that I usually pedal past to get to the take out.
