Met Bryce and Charles at my house at 5:30 and made our way up to the Lake.  Beautifully calm with no wind and the sun shining as we launched.  We all had downriggers and were bouncing bottom with assorted offering ... myself sending down a K13 Kwikfish in Fickle Pickle with a herring strip trailer.  Got a takedown early only to come up empty.  Proceeded up lake metering fish on the bottom down 120-140 feet.  Hit a shallower flat and was no longer marking fish so I turned back.  Damn!!   I snagged bottom.   Hmmm .. bottom is coming up to me.  She felt like dead weight until it was about 20 feet down then she gave a couple feeble shakes.  Not a lot of fight to her, but hey, she's worth 210 AOTY points.   ;D  Yup!  30 inches, 9 pounds 4 ounces.  Around noon the wind came up and chased us off the lake.

Nice fish... big points.

What kind of downrigger were you using.  Was considering trying on of those Scotty Lake Trolls.  They look light enough for Kayak use.  Thinking Kokes at Lake Merwin.

Well like Pole said, beautiful day, then wind. Pole had the hot hand today and got a strike almost right off the bat. Followed by his beauty laker.

Me? Trolled and trolled. Marked some good fish but just couldn't get any action. Went through all my tackle and still no takers. I guess the lure I should have stashed in the box was the K13. :'(

Great looking fish Pole and thanks for the fillet!

Hey, good story guys!  Now THAT'S what I like to see.  When you have to do time in Okla., most of your thrills in life can only be vicarious.  Keep up the good work you guys.  I'll see you all again over the Labor Day weekend.

Nice job Allen.  I'm still hoping to see some Oregon laker action sometime this summer.  Last I knew the roads to Odell were still snow covered and Cresent had Ice, but that was a week or so ago.

Thanks guys.

GBS, yup we're using Scotty Laketrollers.  I mounted mine on a Scotty gimbal mount which then went in the flush mounted rod holder behind my seat.  Here's a pic from the Scotty site.

Schweet Fish!     In fact, I think that fish would have easily eaten the trout I posted.  :D

That's one hell of a score to post on your first AOTY entry of the year.  Gotta wonder what other secrets you have up your sleeve Pole....  :'(

No secrets here.  Just straight up fishing and a bit of luck.  In fact, this is probably a personal best for a non-searun trout for me.
