I'm going to pick up a shark hook (or 5) on eBay for around $45. These are size 18/0 - 20/0 duratin Mustad shark/gator hooks. Of course, I only need one, but I was wondering if anyone out there would be interested in picking one up as well for the upcoming hali season? I've weighed the options of having a harpoon or using a hook and I think, after watching videos, that the amount of force to secure a monster (50+ lbs.), would be better spent on a hand gaff in a lifting motion rather than a thrusting motion with a harpoon. Also, it seems like it would take up less space and be much easier to maneuver on deck.

Anywho, let me know if you're interested. If not, I'll just pick up the 2 for $22 offereing. Price would be $10 plus shipping (around $3-$4 to fit it in a video cassette shipping box).

I'll have to post pics after rigging it up. Thanks to everyone who posted on the other thread and the photos to model my future toy after.

Anyone in the Seattle area can pick them up at Seattle Marine Supply. They usually have them in stock.

Got me a gaff, two big pointy shark hooks, a 6lb. downrigger weight, three bait clips, a bunch of surgical tubing, a Gerber Multi-tool, and a halibut gut-scraper out of Alaska. All for $25 with shipping... Ah, I LOVE eBay!!!
