I built this rod holder for my Adventure based off of Todd's he had made for his addy.  It was raining reallly hard and I had nothing else to do that day, so even though I didnt really need it, I figued why not.  after using it a few times out on American lake, it is way mor eusefull than I originally expected.  I have two flush scotty mouts in the front of the boat which I normally use, but if I am using a downrigger (Laketroll, it plugs into the scotty mount) it becomes way more useful, because I can plug rocket launchers into the scotty mounts on it and run the rod out in front of me, allowing for me to see strikes and not just feel or hear them.  Also, in a few months I will be leaving the PNW for the forseeable future and once on the east coast can use more than one or two rods for trolling. Biggest issues I found was that putting the net in the rod holder on my orange box makes it hard to get the net out, and the net gets tangled in reels/ lures.  To cope with it I end up laying the net down over the back end of the boat with the handle sticking close to my left hand when I reach back.  looking for some advice on what to add on to it/ where to stick the net to cope with rougher water, totally want to pimp my ride to the fullest.

I have a tip. You need a matching green Army guy on the other side. LOL

It's funny that you posted this. I was just thinking today that I need to figure out some sort of rod holder for my Revo. I thought about doing something similar to this. That looks like a simple solution to the limited rod/net storage.

If you build one, build it on the kayak.  It makes it easier to measure and you get the angles right, the angles are not parallel.  1.25 inch PVC.   I found the GI Joe at the American lake Boondoggle, superglued him to it for fun

Yeah that was my plan. It seemed a lot easier that way. I would probably not build as tall as that one. I'm sure that has more to do with personal preference though.

Ha, umm actually I just kind of built it and didn't think about the height.  Longer handled rods rest against my orange box and make it hard to open.... Back to the drawing board lol

Look at some of the magnetic net keepers.  (http://www.akriverwrights.com/nets/net-keeper/) similar to this one.  allows for quick removal, but will hold your net.  Or go to a scuba shop and look at the diving gear retractors (hobie sells one too)

Don't forget to keep it simple....the more crap you have hanging off of your rig, the more likely you are to get something tangled up
No matter how many times the PB's tell me I'm nuts....I still smile every time I out fish them

here is round 2.  took the box off completely because I usually put anything I actually need in the mesh netting right up front(pliers, bait, leader material and lures I might change it up to).   the box goes better on my other kayak anyway, it just migrated over with to the new boat.  Took Linglings advice and shortened it some, and moved I a little closer to make everything easier to reach.  also wrapped the upper part of the PVC that plugs into the rod holder with duct tape, low enough that the redneckification cant be seen when pluged in.  the bungee wraps around it as well, all in all resulting in a rock solid set.  the scotty rod holders are zip tied and backed with 2 part marine grade epoxy putty then superglued on with marine grade super glue so as to not allow them to move at all.  no metal means no chance of corrosion.  I think it will be the ultimate multi rod trolling addition, future testing will tell.

Shorter looks more functional. I'm loving the evolution!

I made mine tall so a bucket would fit under it. The wife loves herring and they're easier to deal when you shake them straight from the hook into a bucket. But putting rods in and out can be a pain.
