newbie intro

Hello all!

A little about me..... I live in Salem with my wife and kids.  I am an avid fisherman, spending most of the fall and spring chasing Chinook out of my 20 foot alumaweld.  I do not currently own a kayak but I am planning to get one in the next year or so. I guess my main goal in the short term for this site is to learn what models of kayaks people are running for their specific fisheries so that I can make an informed decision.  Also, I am interested in learning about the modifications people do to their kayaks.  I have a couple buds that have hobie kayaks with the mirage drive, which is prob what i'll be looking at pretty seriously.

Welcome to the forum.  First thing everyone will say is to demo, demo, and demo some more before you put green backs down; some serious sage advice.  Also think about what your are targeting/going to target all river/lake/blue water.  Read past threads, do your research and if you switch to the plastic flotilla the yearly cost to be legal is $5 but buy a two year for $10 and save two bucks (it is another lure).  But be warned, kayaks are like rabbits.  Currently have a surprise sharing my hallway with a Mt. Bike offspring, it happens.

hahaha, Rabbits indeed. My 5yr old daughter will be unwrapping her first yak Christmas morning
