went up to Gig harbor yesterday and test drove the Native Slayer Propel - loved it!!!

didn't get back to the house till fairly late and left it on top of the truck over night figuring I would clean the garage/basement out a bit in the morning and clear space for the new Yak.  Woke up this morning, had my coffee, then headed for the basement to make some wall mount brackets and clear out some room.

upon opening the door to the stairs and looking into the basement, my morning plans changed drastically  :'( .  I was staring at standing water in my basement.  grabbed my muck boots and went to investigate.  the cinderblock wall that splits my basement area in half had sprung several leaks and was sweating water through about a 10 foot wide by 2 foot tall section.  took me a while to figure out the source - but eventually found two new springs flowing out of the ground behind my house at about 5-10 GPM.  all that water was being channeled against the back of my house and damned up on the foundation.

so instead of putting my yak away in the garage, I got to empty all the garage and start airing out everything that got wet (luckily it doesn't seem anything was ruined).  Next step will be to start the battle with the city about the sewer line construction they did on the street above my house and figure out what they did to re-direct the water runoff up there.  to keep the water off my foundation I had to dig a trench across my lawn and aim the water down my driveway.  hopefully the city will work with me to get the water rerouted.

on a brighter note - defiantly stoked about getting the native rigged up and on the water.

Can't wait to hear how the boat does. Were you in the market for one or was it an impulse buy?

Good luck on the water situation.

I was going to lay gravel down and hope for some spawning beds!!!  I got enough flow through my yard now I should be able to get a late spring/early summer steelhead run through my lawn.  :-\

I've been toying with the idea of pedal power for a while, saw some recent posts about the propel drive and the reverse capability sealed the deal. I drifted the sloughs by my house quite a bit last summer on the outgoing tides and being able to control my distance to the shoreline without putting the fishing pole down is huge. Gig harbor Fly shop has several propel drives, and a demo I got to pedal around the bay a bit Sunday.  my 1st impression was a no-go due to lack of proper support on the seat when pushing on the pedals...but after a few minutes of toying with the adjustments on the seat it actually was quite comfortable - the seat can slide forward and back as well as adjust the recline.  Turning radius was pretty tight - I cut circles in the dock lanes with ease.  just guessing at speeds, but I'm thinking with max exertion I can hold 1-1.5 mph faster than the same output on my Malibu.  it even paddled as good, or even better than my Malibu which was a huge surprise.     just need to get it off my truck and in the garage to figure out gear storage - I'm hoping I'll have everything back in place tomorrow.
