If you're looking for something that'll reduce the drag on your kayak, you might try one of the "super hydrophobic" wipes that some surfers use on their boards.  These were really big in the 90's and are still used by some of the pro's.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

OK settle down and think about! When I wax my car water beads and quickly runs off. Kayak moving through the water has to displace it, as the water clings and resists. remember beads of water? Fast run off? I wax every spring our pango rec. kayaks and my cuda (Jackson Kayak) Probably should be done at least twice. At least that's my take on the subject. My new Year resolution: Fish More! Have you ever waxed your car or truck - why?
I'm a firm believer in 303 for protecting plastic. A small spray bottle as pictured, cost around $14, but it provides spf40 as well. That may seem like overkill, but if it makes my kayaks last longer, protecting them from the elements, I'm all for it. And, the time spent applying it is well spent as its a great time for a total inspection, some preventative maintenance and some general tlc.

+1 on the 303 for kayak hulls...another use of 303 is to prevent latex gaskets from drying out. Great stuff.

Well, I do understand the protect and inspect properties. It reminds me of what my local road bike guy told me when I asked him if he knew of any way I could save a few ounces on road bike. If I could just save a few ounces, I could ride faster and make it up the hills easier. He told me to stop eating so much.
I think possibly a few things equate to kayak fishing. Your kayaks drag on the water is probably minuscule to the hang over from the night before, the non wind resistant clothing you are wearing. The possible inefficiency in your stroke. But if you fix all of that, maybe then you can shave a few seconds on your mile.
Why not enjoy the ride out, stop and fish a while, maybe talk and enjoy the scenery.
