I started a thread last fall but can't locate it.  I need to book a coastal charter in the next couple months (before July) but have no experience doing so.

We would like to get between 8 - 12 people on a boat (to ourselves if possible).

What Charters do you all recommend?

Thanks!

Betty Kay Charters is probably the most popular outfit in our area. You might look into that. It's a nice boat too. I've followed them around before when they come in close to where I normally fish.

I should have mentioned that we probably wouldn't want to drive any further south then Newport.

I'd go out of Depoe Bay and I like tradewinds.

Bandon would be far quite far from Baker, but, if you could get down there, Prowler Charters. They are very concerned that everyone on board gets their fish. Much more so than some of the ones up north I've been on.

I second Dockside.

We go out on the Triumph. It only fishes 6 people.
James Pederson is the captain and he works his ass off.

They just added another boat to the fleet that's not on the website.

Yaquina Bay Charters in Newport OR is a good one they have two ocean boats and a bay pontoon boat. They have great captains and deckhands.

I can only speak for myself, but if you want to stay on the north coast, Garibaldi Charters http://garibaldicharters.com has always done me right. They are on the North end of Tillamook Bay and their boat, the Norwester, could probably handle 10-12 people. I like Depot Bay a lot too and had good luck with Tradewinds.
