Tons of great lure ideas here!! I can't wait to get out and try some of them!!

I've caught them out around Deception Island on all kinds of lures and bait while fishing for other species.  Haven't been out there in awhile and look forward to fishing specifically for greenling this spring.  The are pretty good eating and put up a reasonable fight too.  Going to try some of the artificials mentioned here.  I have caught them on buzz bombs and even a point wilson dart, but those are kind of expensive to risk on that rocky bottom.

Do you launch at Bowman?  If you see a yellow Outback, it's probably me.

Let us know how you do.

I haven't launched out of Bowman yet but it looks pretty easy. I have launched out of Rosario with my Mini-X and it was not too bad with a small kayak. I just picked up an Outback yesterday and will be op-checking it out as soon as it stops snowing here....... :clock:

Thanks
Rick

Sandshrimp...Sandshrimp...Sandshrimp...
I tie 'em on with Spider string as it's softer than any of the thready type bait strings...

I went semi-mad scientist once and tied two pieces of yarn (each about 6 ish inches long, 1 pink and 1 orange) straight to an El-Cheapo pre-tied #2 hook...tied 2 overhand knots each and left the rest trail...mashed up what remained of my dead leftover sandshimp...Put my Franken-shrimpy fly thingy in the shrimp-mash and put the lid back on...stuck it in the fridge to keep it cool...
Wife was not impressed when I raided her yarn box...was EXTREMELY not impressed when she opened the fridge to be met by the aroma of old sandshrimp...Oops

However, she was VERY happy with the results...  ...  ...I just don't put sandshrimp in the fridge anymore...
I know what I am...My wife tells me all the time!!

Hi,

I usually catch Greenlings on pile worms. I've also heard that folks like using clam necks.

I'm wondering if anyone has found a killer Greenling lure for this area....

I tried some plastics and it's pretty hit and miss...

Just checking   :)

Shimano Lucanus Jigs .... they do the trick for me. They come in all sizes and colors and I have caught everything from Greenlings to Lings on them. Awesome action. ...
