Ive had a setup for about a year and a half.  Had it out once on lake pendland out of hepner or. Grew up in Marryhill Washington. So ive done alot of bass, walleye, sturgeon. Just never off a kayak. Look forward to sharing the water with some of you. As you can see ive got to knock the dust off her.

Welcome aboard 76 Ford. I drive a '98 Ford  ;D and grew up in Keizer. I didn't own a kayak as a kid, but we would launch our inner tubes from Wallace Marine park in West Salem and float the Willamette to various take outs in Keizer. PFD's were unheard of in the 70's and its a wonder we didn't end up sturgeon and carp bait.

Welcome 76 Ford!

I miss my 79 F150 Custom - but that's life I guess - now I have only a hauler '12 F350 PowerStroke - a month or go a snapped this photo while meeting my brother's over at my folks place - posted it to a popular social media site, captioned "Can you tell we're a Ford Family?"

Anyway, I'm in Salem myself, and have seen a few other Salemites (one even screen named themselves that, so be on the look out). I'm in the early stages of crossing over to Kayak angling. Currently sport a Pontoon, but am in the market for a yak. It's good to know once I acquire one, there's a pod of fellow yakers in the Salem area.

Hopefully, sooner rather than later we'll see each other on the water!

Welcome!

I am also from Salem.  We are getting quite the group down here.  I am pretty new to kayaking and dressing for the water but have been using a dry top and waders with a wading belt.  I tested the setup by jumping into 41 degree water off a dock. Not a drop of water got through but my uncovered face was numb.

Good luck!

Welcome, and I did drive my dad's old 74 half ton Ford  for many years after he passed away.  Anyways, glad to see more people from the area on the forum. It seems like quite a few from the Salem through Corvallis area now. I'm sure we will all be bumping into one another soon.

I've only fished here in salem a few times, mostly for bass.  I prefer to travel to the lower willamette for sturgeon or the coast for salmon and stealhead.  Detroit is fun for trout also.  I'm really looking forward to bottom fishing in the ocean as well.  Just haven't found much worth catching in the salem area.

We went to walling pond in Salem today and my buddies daughter landed the only fish of the day... Just happened to be a brood trout. I was hoping to discover the pond would allow not motorized water craft, but it doesn't... So we fished the bank.

I absolutely believe it. Surprisingly there was a sturgeon transplanted into walking pond some years ago and a couple years back it was caught - it was 61". I don't think there's anymore now, but I absolutely believe there may be some in Salem's stretch of the Willamette.

Well that quote didn't work out right using Tapatalk, anyway, I totally believe there could be Sturgeon in Salem's stretch of the Willy.
