Willbd, why are you using two fish finders at the same time?

I was testing out the DSI and comparing it to the standard fish finder.

I first used a length of 1/2 inch PVC pipe with the transducer at the end but it was noisy so I switched to a length of flat Stainless Steel which knifes through the water and is much quieter.

All of you guys saying how noisy it is... I never really noticed that... until now that you said something!

Thanks a lot! :booty:

Rev, if you get a hobie, you don't need to drill holes to have an internally mounted (thru hull) setup.

Just installed 'arm over the side' using Ram Mount gear from YakAttack. Used a single track and two 1" balls. One for the fish finder (Lowrance Elite 4) and one for the arm. Placed the battery inside the hatch in a waterproof box with power cable led through the watertight compartment and sealed. Made for a neater installation on the side of the kayak.
Works great - wish you guys hadn't mentioned noise - now I can hear it!!

I started with a over the side near the bow, then went to through hull (Foam disc goop'd in place and filled with water) now Im back to the over the side but at the stern for easy operation. I found the transducer to be more accurate in the water. I had some extra Ram mount pieces and used a carbon fiber shaft from a split arrow I had laying around. The diameter is about 5/16" so drag and noise are not an issue and sits about flush with the bottom of the yak. . The Ram mount allows me to flip it behind the seat back when not in use and keeps it tight to the side of the hull so my line wouldn't get caught up.
