I occasionally get my fishing line tangled in the rudder of my Revolution.  This is a pain, because I either have to ask somebody I'm kayaking with to untangle it, or I have to go to shore and get out to untangle it.  Since becoming more skillful at deploying and managing my line doesn't appear to be an option, does anybody have any ideas for ways to modify the rudder mechanism to reduce the chances of getting line tangled in it?

It's happened to me a couple times...especially while turning in a troll with a "flatline" out. I normally just stick the rod tip down in the water and retract the rudder...once the line is clear, I redploy it and am on my way.

Do you carry a paddle?  You can use it to lift and free the line.  You could also use a rudder-fouled line as an opportunity to practice your re-entry.
