kayak cookery

no, i don't mean that urge you get when you've gotten skunked so much you're almost tempted to eat your yak.

it's the name of a book i just picked up by Linda Daniel at the Sportsmans Warehouse up here.

Kayak Cookery, a Handbook of Provisions and Recipes.

this covers a lot of territory. everything from soups and cheesecakes, to storing wines and veggies in the hull, putting a basic kayak kitchen together to planning a meal schedule for two to six people, pretty much everything you need to plan your next kayaking expedition.

that last caught my attention real quick because i know that moutcha and a possible sombrio are coming up, camping still requires a way to cook, and a backpack can only hold so much. this gives you a very large set of alternatives.

pick it up next time you're at the local SW or look up the ISBN number and get it online.. either way, get it. it's one of those books that is a must have for your outdoor/yakfishing/camping library

Nice find Rich---an extended trip by kayak is something I've thought about for a long time.  Sounds like this book would fit nicely into that scenario.

Do you book readers know about Edward R. Hamilton bookseller. My buddy turned me on to this place a while back. great discount books and 3.95 shipping for any amount of books. they have a website that lists the books they have but it is mail order only. They send out a nice paper with there selections and often have a 2.95-3.95-4.95 mailer that comes out a few times a year. I've built a good woodworking library from there.

yeah, i too have been thinking about extended yak fishing trips. so much so, i've contemplated dropping my current employment and opening up a yak fishing supply and guide service. trouble is, i don't have enough yakking experience, don't know the local fisheries all that well, and start up money is non existent. i do have a wee bit of small business experience tho...oh well, if wishes were horses......
