Some recon in central Puget Sound yesterday. Nice day, water column was a desert.  Pedaled the fish finder around for 5 hours covering about 8 NM checking out the local ling and rockfish "holes" (not fishing for ling nor rockfish - just looking).

Nothing. Nada. Not a single arch on the FF, not a single beep from the FishID.  Not even a single flounder peck, or hit, or nibble.  It looked like a desert out there.

Still, it was good to finally get out on the water again after a slow 2014 start.

Lol might as well not even think about rockfish since this is what the 3rd year I think since they closed it... now the flounder for me never show on my ff but Ive caught them bouncing a jig off the bottom (probably hit them in the head and pissed em off ya know lol) Im hopin ling fishing will be better for me this year than it was last year though...

Yes, it's been a bummer on rockfish in the sound for years, but I always manage to bycatch about 5 to 1 when fishing for lings. Sometimes I do see flounder on the FF. Just a short thin line on the bottom.

Try this. Find a flat spot where you get flounder/sole/sanddab pecking your bottom jig and carefully watch the FF. You may see some anomalies on the scan.
