I was wondering if one of you guys from Oregon could answer this question.
Do you need an Oregon fishing license to fish shad on the Oregon side? I know in washington you don't, but we all know our neighbors to the south are a little screwy:)

If you're staying in the Columbia you're good to fish the Oregon side with a WA license.

Are you saying you don't need a fishing license in Washington to fish for shad?  I think that is true of common carp in Washington, but I didn't think it applied to shad.  Then again, I'm one of those screwy neighbors to the south where we don't need a license for smelt.

Oh, I missed that part of the question.  I don't know the answer to that.  I would send an email to ask a WDFW agent.

I can find nothing in the Oregon Perm. Regs that would all you to angle for Shad without a license.

I did find that for the Columbia zone, you can launch and land your boat on either side with either state license.

page 98:
Regulations for this zone:
1. In the Columbia River where it forms the state boundary line, not including tributaries, sloughs and lands, the following rules apply:...
  e. Anglers with a valid resident or non-resident license issued by either Oregon or Washington may launch or take out their boats from either shore.

Why would I e-mail washington Department of fish and wildlife, to ask an oregon question?

I appreciate the great help you guys have been?

Because since it's a shared fishing area they should both know the answer.  Ask ODFW if you feel like it.
