I've never seen a blue whale but I have seen a humpback.  It was hanging around Tillamook Head for a couple of days.  Drew quite a crowd with it's breaching and massive back flops.

Several years ago there was a pod of Killer Whales summering off Manzanita.  They spent a couple of months there.  I read that they were whale hunters intercepting the greys on their migration.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

man ya i agree about the porpois thing...i have never been on a kayak with the stinkin porpois but me and my buddy would shark fish in his jon boat all the time and it would be 2 in the am and we would almost be asleep and one of 2 things would happen...either a couple of porpois would blow about a foot from the boat (i think they do it on purpose) or the fishing rod would scream...both scare the crap out of u when ur almost asleep in the am hehe.

i can't imagine a whale coming up though that would just be crazy...oh i have had some close encounters with manatees

we used to wade out in florida to throw out bait (again shark fishing) we didn't like to wade out by ourselves so we would ussually go together (seeing sharks run the waters we wade through on a rare occasion) well one time we just got to the spot and my friend says im just gonna go on out u catch up...so im on the sand riggin up and he is probably 30 or 40 foot out...all i hear is crazy splashing so i look back and i see my friend running backwards on water so i go out to him (not sure why i guess because i didn't see anything) and hes like hey u see that big dark spot over there...and im like no...hes like right there and then i see it and im like holy crap...at this point it is sitting still about 15 feet away...so pretty quickly i say that it probably isn't a shark because they don't sit still...then my buddy gets a better look and hes like its a manatee should i go touch it lol...im like no...hes says screw it i am gonna try to touch it...he walked right up to it and touched it for about 15 or 20 seconds and he just sat there then swam off a bit later. (i know ur not suppost to touch them but oh well)
